Walker earns two 4th places at Christmas Cup Uster

Sophia Walker, a 12-year-old from Limmat Sharks Zürich, placed 4th in the 50m and 100m breaststroke at the 7. Generalica Christmas Cup Uster on December 13, 2025, in Uster.

Walker swam the 50m breaststroke in 37.72 seconds and the 100m breaststroke in 1:22.47, finishing 4th in both events. Her best FINA point score of the day came in the 100m breaststroke with 470 points, followed by 462 points in the 50m breaststroke. She also competed in the 200m breaststroke, placing 7th with a time of 3:03.68, and took 13th in the 100m freestyle (1:07.99) and 17th in the 50m butterfly (34.81).

Several swimmers reached the podium with personal best times. A swimmer from Schwimmclub Uster Wallisellen earned gold in the 200m freestyle after a personal best of 2:12.45. Another athlete from Schwimmverein Baar posted a personal best in the 100m backstroke to take silver. A young swimmer from SC Schaffhausen collected her first medal of the season with a bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Limmat Sharks Zürich finished the meet with 14 total podiums, including 5 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals. The club placed 2nd among the 9 participating teams, behind only Schwimmclub Uster Wallisellen, who hosted the event. Limmat Sharks swimmers reached the podium in 10 of the 14 age groups.

The Christmas Cup marked the final competition of the year for many young swimmers in the region. Walker now heads into the winter training block with two strong breaststroke results to build on.
