Sophia Walker posts personal best at regional championships in Uster

Sophia Walker of Limmat Sharks Zürich swam a personal best in the 200m breaststroke at the RZO Regionale Hallen-Meisterschaften 2025 on October 25 in Uster, Switzerland.

The 12-year-old competed in four events at the short-course meet, reaching the top 10 in two of them. Her best result came in the 100m breaststroke, where she finished seventh in 1:20.12 with 512 FINA points. She also placed 10th in the 200m breaststroke in 3:01.45, a personal best worth 435 FINA points. In her other races, she finished 31st in the 100m freestyle (1:09.20) and 30th in the 200m individual medley (2:49.05).

Several swimmers across the age groups stood out with strong performances. One athlete reached a podium for the first time after a long stretch without a medal, while another posted a personal best on the way to a top-three finish. The meet featured competitive racing across all age groups, with many swimmers improving their season times.

Limmat Sharks Zürich had a strong day at the meet, collecting 14 podiums in total. The club won 5 gold medals, 4 silver and 5 bronze. That placed them second in the club standings, behind only the top club on the day. Their swimmers showed depth across multiple age groups and strokes.

The regional championships gave young swimmers valuable race experience early in the season. For Sophia Walker, the personal best in the 200m breaststroke provides a solid foundation for the upcoming winter meets.
