Sophia Walker wins gold and adds two bronzes at Futura Teil 2 in Bülach

Sophia Walker, 12, of Limmat Sharks Zürich won gold in the 50m breaststroke and took bronze in the 200m IM and 400m freestyle at the Futura Teil 2, RZO meet on March 14, 2026, in Bülach, Switzerland.

Competing in a short-course meters pool, Walker posted a personal best of 36.67 in the 50m breaststroke to finish first overall and first in her age group. She added a bronze in the 200m IM with a time of 2:42.03 and another bronze in the 400m freestyle at 5:11.66, both personal bests. Her 50m breaststroke time earned 502 FINA points, the highest of her three races.

Several other swimmers reached the podium with notable efforts. Anna Meier took gold in the 100m freestyle, her first podium finish of the season. Lukas Schmid, competing in the 200m backstroke, earned silver with a personal best time. Emma Keller won bronze in the 100m butterfly, marking her first medal in more than a year. Jonas Weber added a silver in the 200m breaststroke, also a personal best.

Limmat Sharks Zürich collected 14 podiums across all age groups, including 5 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze. That total placed the club second among all teams at the meet, behind only the host club. The team's 5 gold medals tied for the most of any club in attendance.

Note: SC Uster leads by gold medals, but Limmat Sharks Zürich holds the highest total with 14 podiums.

Walker's three personal bests in a single meet highlight a strong day for the young swimmer, who improved in every event she entered. Her results contributed directly to her club's second-place finish in the team standings.
