Sophia Walker shines in Zürich meet debut

Sophia Walker, a 12-year-old swimmer from Limmat Sharks Zürich, competed in three events at the 44. Internationales Hi-Point Meeting in Zürich on March 20, 2026, posting strong personal results across all her races.

Walker's best finish came in the 100m breaststroke, where she placed 37th overall with a time of 1:22.78 and earned 464 FINA points. Watch the race She also swam the 200m individual medley in 2:49.47, ranking 45th with 408 FINA points, and the 50m freestyle in 30.73, placing 87th with 453 FINA points. Watch the race

The meet brought several athletes to the podium for the first time in a while. Anna Meier of SC Uster claimed her first gold medal since 2023 in the girls 13-year-old 200m backstroke, while Lukas Keller from Schwimmclub Aarefisch reached his first podium of the season with a bronze in the boys 11-year-old 100m butterfly. Elena Rossi of Nuoto Locarno earned her first medal of 2026 with a silver in the girls 12-year-old 400m freestyle, and Jonas Weber from Limmat Sharks Zürich took his first podium since last summer with a bronze in the boys 14-year-old 50m breaststroke.

Limmat Sharks Zürich finished the meet with 12 total podiums, including 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals. That placed the club second overall behind SC Uster, who topped the table with 15 medals. Limmat Sharks also recorded the most age-group finalists of any club, with 23 swimmers reaching top-8 finishes.

The meet marked a solid step forward for Walker, who improved her personal best in the 100m breaststroke by nearly a second. She will next compete at the regional spring championships in April.
