Sophia Walker takes silver at 44th Internationaler Hallenjugendtag

Sophia Walker of Limmat Sharks Zürich won silver in the 100m breaststroke at the 44th Internationaler Hallenjugendtag on January 31, 2026, in Zürich, finishing in 1:22.17.

Walker, competing in the long-course meet, swam seven events and reached the podium once. Her silver in the 100m breaststroke earned 475 FINA points. She also placed fifth in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:49.83, and ninth in the 200m breaststroke at 3:04.52.

In her other races, Walker finished 11th in the 100m freestyle (1:07.81), 13th in the 400m freestyle (5:22.41), 14th in the 200m freestyle (2:33.84) and 20th in the 100m backstroke (1:22.61). Her 400m freestyle time was a personal best.

Several swimmers reached the podium with standout results. Lena Fischer of SC Uster posted a personal best in the 200m backstroke on her way to gold. Jonas Meier from Schwimmclub Aare took bronze in the 50m butterfly, his first podium finish in two years. Mia Keller of SV Basel earned her first career podium with a silver in the 100m freestyle.

Limmat Sharks Zürich collected 14 total podiums across all age groups, with 5 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals. That placed the club second in the overall medal standings behind SC Uster, who led with 18 total medals.

The meet brought together age-group swimmers from across Switzerland for a full day of racing in long-course competition. Walker’s silver highlighted a strong team effort from Limmat Sharks Zürich, who finished behind only SC Uster in the club standings.
