Season opener at the Meilemer Meeting!

Successful start to the season with personal best times

Four races, four personal best times! Sophia Walker made a successful start to the new season on 26 September, the first day of the 47th Meilemer Meeting. She was particularly impressive in the 100 m breaststroke: in 1:14.83 minutes she secured Dilber in the U-13 category and went below the qualification limit for the Swiss Short Course Championships in November. The 50 breaststroke limit has also been achieved in the meantime. She also set personal best times in the 100 m freestyle (1:02.74), butterfly (1:12.74) and backstroke (1:16.70).

Unfortunately, this time it was just not quite enough for the overall standings and the 100 medley final. The final was firmly in LimmatSharks hands: Carolina Papp won in 1:06.63 minutes ahead of Aurelia Wüst and Hanna Rohmeder. Mila Paszkowski and Alyna Gerber completed the final field.

Additional highlights were provided by Swiss national team members Angelina Patt, Flavio Bucca and Gian-Luca Gartmann. The young talents were able to experience the international top athletes up close. All three set meeting records – among them Aneglina Patt with 1:03.37 and Gian-Luca Gartmann with 55.06, who won these final races with respective meeting records.

Sophia takes a lot of motivation from Meilen for the coming season with the LimmatSharks and the RZO regional squad. She has already settled in at the Zurich School of Art and Sport. The school admits young artistic and sporting talents in order to optimally coordinate their school education with competitive sport.
